1st Month Update…

March 15, 2023By 0
We have officially been living in the Philippines for one month. While it has been a big transition with lots of emotions for our family, we do feel there has been such a grace from the Lord over us. Having never been here before I was worried it wouldn’t feel like home, but it truly has started to feel like home in this past month. We feel a deep sense we are in the right place. Evelyn has been such a champ moving to a new nation, she was born for this. She has truly opened doors we could not have seen open without her. She is making friends everywhere we go. We are so proud of her.

We are still trying to figure out what exactly life will look like for us here. We have been spending most of our days getting our house ready. It was completely bare so we needed to buy all of our appliances and furniture. Which has been quite the adventure in a new place using public transportation. We still have a few more pieces of furniture to buy but we are beyond thankful for the items we have been able to get, it is starting to look more like a home. Due to the house sitting empty for several years we have had a few unforeseen complications in the house. Terminates were found in our kitchen cabinets, our toilets are leaking and as of now they are unusable and a big leak in our shower drain causing water to leak down into the living room area. Thankfully all things are fixable.

As a family we have gotten to do some ministry throughout the month. We have visited a couple villages where we got to share the gospel, pray together and just enjoy spending time with some of the local people here. While at one village seeing the poverty people live in here I just couldn’t help but think “how can we even begin to help” when I felt a gentle reminder from the Lord “this is why I brought you here”. Such a humbling moment. This is why we are here.

Danny has been working with the tech team here at the YWAM base. He will be teaching some of the local Filipinos what he has learned in the years he spent working at Living Stones Church running the tech department.

I was able to help with some of the red light ministry here in our town. We bought out several women for the night, we were able to take them out of the brothel and to a nice dinner nearby. Where they were able to spend their time in a much different way than they were expecting going into work that night. We had amazing conversations, shared testimonies and just spent time together. My heart for these women grew even greater hearing their testimonies and stories of their children. Please be praying with us for these women.

Again thank you for your prayers and support for our family. We are so excited for the testimonies we will be able to share in the months to come.

Personal Prayer Points for this Month:
  • We are praying for a car as it will open up so many doors for ministry as well as being much safer for our family, especially Evelyn.
  • For the leaks in our house to be fixed quickly and easily
  • That we would hear the Lord clearly as to what ministries we should invest our time into as there is such a deep need all around.
