Our Journey Begins…

As you may or may not know, we have been spending these last few weeks trying to spend as much quality time with our family and friends before me move. We have seen God’s faithful and blessings during this time.

A quick story of how a delayed flight allowed us to fly to Hawaii for free.

Last month we were flying out of Portland to visit friends and family in Dallas. We made the three hour drive through the snow. As we were waiting we were told our plane arriving had a “check engine” light on and they needed to look at it. Our flight ended up leaving 4 hours later and they said we wouldn’t be able to make our connection. They gave us a two options, we could stay the night in Portland or take the flight and see if they could get us to Dallas. In my mind I was thinking, “I just drove three hours, checked my bags, went through security and waited another four hours. I’m ready to go somewhere.” Bekah was on board and we took off to Las Vegas. During the flight they rebooked our connecting flights and they had us overnight in Phoenix. I was okay with that because at least I was closer to my destination. What we didn’t know when we landed was that they would be getting us a hotel and on top of that gave us vouchers for another time. This amount was enough to book our flights to Kona. Flying from Kona to Manila was a lot better than any other flights we were looking at. The cheapest flight we found from the mainland had us flying from Seattle to Singapore which took 16 hours and 55 minutes. On our new flight we leave from Kona to Japan and its only 9 hours and with a toddler that’s a much better flight. In the chaos of delays and missed connections we saw the Lords faithfulness.

We have booked our flight to Manila and we are officially leaving from Kona on the 1st of February.
